The holiday season has arrived, and that means a plethora of fun holiday and Christmas-themed activities to enjoy! For the 2022 holiday season, there are countless events to take advantage of all across Duplin County, from festivals and parades to shopping, digging, and much more. If you’re looking for fun ways to celebrate the Christmas season, check out any of the family-friendly events below.
This event is a time-honored tradition for Duplin County residents of all ages. Recognized as one of the best Christmas shows on the East Coast, this spectacular event will get you into the spirit of Christmas in no time. Throughout the night, you’ll hear heart-warming stories, sing along with your favorite Christmas songs, and enjoy food fit for royalty.
Enjoy a delicious meal cooked up by Chef Bert and Pastry Chef Tabatha. This year’s menu includes a garden salad with orange poppyseed dressing, chicken cordon blue with Carlos wine sauce, sweet potato casserole, mixed seasonal veggies, yeast rolls, and red velvet cheesecake. If that’s not exciting enough, you can also add a deluxe wine tasting to your show ticket that will allow you to sample nine of Duplin Winery’s Christmas wines and one “Sweetzer” while enjoying gourmet crackers and cheese dip.
The event will take place at Duplin Winery’s Rose Hill location at 505 N Sycamore St, Rose Hill, NC 28458, on weekends throughout November and December. No holiday celebration is complete without a tree! If you haven’t purchased your Christmas tree yet, consider stopping by the 5th Annual Tara Creek Christmas Tree Sale. Grab a car you can transport your tree in/on and drive over to 136 Robert Hobbs Rd, Faison, NC 28341. The tree sale runs from November 19th to November 27th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays and Saturdays and from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sundays.
The tree sales will feature premium-grade Fraser fir Christmas trees that have been great here in Eastern North Carolina. Stop inside the barn to find the perfect tree for your home. But you might want to get there sooner rather than later because once the trees are sold out, that’s it for the season! Live wreaths and garlands will also be available, and professional bow makers will be on-site selling stunning hand-made bows. Presented by the Kenansville-Duplin Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Town of Kenansville and the Kenansville Fire Department, the Kenansville Christmas Parade is set to kick off at 11:00 am on November 26, 2022.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy this spectacular celebration of the Christmas season as countless local organizations stroll the streets in decorated floats and festive Christmas costumes. The parade route will begin at the State Employees Credit Union and ends at Kenansville Elementary school. Be sure to arrive early to claim your spot along the parade route, and make sure to bring chairs and blankets to sit on and plenty of warm clothes to bundle up in – just in case it’s cold! Nothing says Christmas quite like lighting up an enormous Christmas tree! Each year, River Landing community members gather at the Clubhouse Circle to join together and celebrate the holidays in style. Hundreds of people get together for this show-stopping event, and they’d love for you to join them!
Head over to the River Landing Clubhouse at 120 Clubhouse Dr, Wallace, NC 28466, on November 28th, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm for a big dose of holiday cheer. In addition to the tree lighting ceremony, the event will feature singing and dancing from local groups. Afterward, you can enjoy the Holiday Cheer Party, which features a wide array of delicious food and seasonal drinks served by the River Landing banquet team. Everyone’s favorite Christmas curmudgeon is coming to Duplin County. Join us as the Duplin Events Center transforms into Du-Ville – a magical wonderland where even the Grinch can enjoy the holidays. Stop by 195 Fairgrounds Dr, Kenansville, NC 28349, on December 2, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm to enjoy all things Grinchy.
The Grinch himself will be there to frighten and delight you with his holiday humbugs and take pictures with whoever dares to cross his path. Later on in the evening, enjoy a showing of Jim Carey’s “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” that’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Built during the early 1800s, Liberty Hall serves as an example of the grandiosity of homes built in the Antebellum South. While it serves as a museum throughout most of the year, it’s transformed into a sparkling holiday attraction during the holidays. Visit Liberty Hall from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on December 2nd or 3rd to enjoy the stunning Christmas Candlelight Tour.
During the tour, you’ll have the chance to enjoy countless natural decorations inspired by the 19th century. A costumed guide will lead you from room to room as you meet costumed interpreters who will share age-old stories and family traditions of those who lived in the American South hundreds of years ago. Merchants, craftsmen, and local business owners are coming together for the second annual Christmas Town 2022 in Warsaw, NC. Head down to Front Street in Warsaw on December 3rd, 2022, from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm to enjoy all this dazzling event has to offer.
During the day, you can enjoy delicious sweets and treats from local Warsaw food truck vendors and local entertainment from church choirs, soloists, and a DJ. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop at multiple vendor booths. Kids can enjoy a bouncy house and craft-making stations, and there will be hot cocoa for one and all. Everyone loves a good Christmas parade. The floats, the costumes, the fun… it’s just so exciting! Grab your kids and head over to Wallace, NC for their annual Christmas Parade on December 10th, 2022, at 10:00 am.
You and your family will love the countless beautiful floats that the town of Wallace carefully crafts each year. You’ll get to meet some of the most prominent members of our community, including Smokey the Bear, McGruff the Crime Dog, the Grinch, and the Sudan Shriners Animated Animals and Paw Patrol. You’ll also see appearances by The Sudan Clowns, Keystone Cops, and the Bugle and Drum Corp, along with countless local organizations and community groups.
