Trivia Night at Duplin Winery

Think you?re pretty smart? Come out and test your knowledge at Duplin Winery?s Trivia Night on Friday, May 4th. Compete in teams against others to see if you have the largest database of useless knowledge while you enjoy some of Duplin?s cool, sweet, and easy wine. Free Trivia Night will be held at the winery the first Friday of every month from May to September.

The trivia event is free and there will be a full selection of Duplin wines available for purchase. Trivia runs from 7PM to 9PM, but arrive early since seats tend to fill up quickly. For more information call 1-800-774-9634.

Pink Hill’s Inaugural Rose Festival

Everything is coming up roses for Pink Hill this Saturday as they prepare for their inaugural Rose Festival. Saturday, April 21, 2012 Pink Hill will come alive with vendors, games, food, exhibitions, and more. Events scheduled include a 5K walk/run, corn hole tournament, antique car and tractor show, chili cook-off, and street dance. BBQ luncheon plates, live music, and inflatables will also be available.

The Rose Festival sponsored by the Pink Hill Area Preservation and Development Committee will run from 10AM to 10PM at 301 South Pine Street. There is still time for vendors to participate in the festival. Those interested can contact the Pink Hill Wellness Education Center.

Our Main Squeeze Festival

September seems so far away when you?re looking forward to something as fun and exciting as the North Carolina Muscadine Festival. That?s why Duplin Winery is putting together ?Our Main Squeeze? Festival on April 21st. This event gives Duplin Winery the chance to celebrate the native muscadine grape, the famously ?Cool, Sweet, and Easy? wines it makes, and more.

Bright Leaf will be onsite selling their famous hot dogs and holding a hotdog eating competition. Prizes will be awarded to winners and finalists. Live entertainment will be provided by the Band of Oz, Legends of the Beach, and Jim Quick and the Coastline. Other vendors will be onsite as well for your enjoyment.

Duplin Winery wants to use this day as a way to say thanks to all of our men and women in uniform by offering free tickets to the first 2,000 active duty or retired personnel. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis so call

Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Event

Duplin County Events Center is holding a Wild Horse & Burro Adoption Event this entire weekend for all who are interested in adopting an animal that is a part of the American heritage. This is a great chance for all cowboys and horse lovers to adopt a beautiful wild animal and help protect their natural habitat from becoming overpopulated. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has placed more than 225,000 wild horses and burros into private care since 1971.

The event schedule begins with a preview from 8AM to noon on Friday, April 20th. Adoption times are from noon to 7PM on Friday, 8AM to 7PM on Saturday, and 8AM to 4PM on Sunday. For more information on the adoption event and the BLM?s mission visit www.duplinevent.com or www.blm.gov.

5th Annual Cabin Lake Youth Fishing Tournament

Grab your tackle box and fishing rods and get ready to hit the lake this weekend with your favorite little ones. This Saturday, April 14th, Duplin County Soil and Water Conservation & Duplin County Parks and Recreation present the 5th Annual Cabin Lake Youth Fishing Tournament. The tournament is free and open to all participants ages 4 to 14. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in the three age brackets (4-6, 7-9, and 10-14) as well as a grand prize for biggest fish overall.

The tourney is at Cabin Lake County Park in Pink Hill and starts with registration at 8AM. The tournament runs from 9AM to 11AM with the prize ceremony at 12PM. 2012 Multicultural Food Fair at Warsaw Wellness Center

Do you enjoy trying new and exotic foods? Are you a self- proclaimed food critic? The Warsaw Wellness Center invites you to their 2012 Multicultural Food Festival on Saturday, April 14. The event will feature a variety of dishes from Haitian, Vietnamese, Hispanic, West Indian, and other cultures. Enjoy samples of these fares along with entertainment from a Native American dance troupe as well as local musicians.

The admission is free and the festival begins at 2PM with entertainment and food tasting. They will also have story time beginning at 3PM. Come to the Warsaw Wellness Center on April 14 and take a culinary trip around the world!
